Jayson Baron, the right leader for these troubled times.
For most of my 21 years here at CAL we have languished under substandard pay and work rules while our union leadership has lurched from crisis to crisis in a reactionary mode. If a response was forthcoming to a management incursion into our contractual rights it was usually no more than a beating of breasts accompanied by empty platitudes.
Communications were confused with politics and the politics of go along to get along ruled the day. While consensus among leadership has its place it should not displace the core ideals of unionism and the best interests of the rank and file. Many a good union representative has started out motivated to take our managerial opposition to task only to find that they’ve strayed down a path strewn with partnership accords, hastily crafted and ill thought out LOA’s and a paternal “we know what’s best for you” mentality.
It takes a laser like focus, a tireless work ethic and steely dedication to the ideals of trade unionism to avoid these pitfalls. I believe that Jayson Baron embodies the aforementioned traits and can bring to bare the background, experience and enthusiasm which can forge a new future for this organization. He will be fully answerable to the rank and file and will not presume that his judgment should supplant that of his constituency.
He will not commandeer the disaffected and apathetic as his own and repackage their apathy as a “silent majority” providing blind support for his actions.
How many times have we heard the well worn phrase “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results”? Well let’s elect someone who will break this cycle and lead us down a new path.

“I would like to pledge my support to one of the pilots here at CAL that I feel has contributed more to his fellow pilots than most of the elected reps, past and present. Jayson’s dogged tenacity has served us all well in the positions he has held both at the IACP and CALALPA. Jayson has been more than generous with his time and talents in the fight for a better condition for the CAL pilots.
Jayson served with me on the strike committee and in that capacity he always was more than ready to contribute and participate in any effort to promote the CAL pilots. He is a trusted friend and tireless unionist and I am proud to know him and I am ready to fight alongside him for the betterment of all the CAL pilots.
A vote for Jayson Baron is a vote for a better future for all CAL pilots!”

I cannot think of a better one-
Your contract is your career. One definition
of insanity is repeating the same behavior and expecting different results. Management
has had its way with this pilot group for decades. Enough is enough.
The status quo
"pilot ops group" mentality that led to the Partnership Accord and the worst overall
contract of our peer airlines has to go, once and for all. Our pilot group demographics
dramatically improved over the last 4 years, but most of the union leadership has
utterly failed to keep up. Jayson and Tara are the right pilots to forcefully and
finally get us out from under so many years of repeated failure.
Please join me and
support Jayson Baron for Captain representative and Tara Cook for First Officer representative.
NYC 757/767 Captain
Dear Jayson,
I want to thank you for stepping forward and running for EWR LEC Captain Representative. Coming from what most would call a “second tier Airline” I was excited to become part of the CAL family in October of 2005. The honeymoon ended shortly after IOE when I learned my second tier airline had far better work rules then we have here at CAL.
Me being optimistic in nature, I spent the past three years looking forward to a bright future here. My optimism turns to outright fear as I become more educated on the inadequacies of our union. How could our Union ask for dignity and respect from Management when it doesn’t even give it to the bottom third of its own seniority list? Call me untested but I have been through two contract negotiations, a merger, an acquisition, and even aided in the process of unionizing my last airline. I have never seen so much apathy, not amongst our pilot group, amongst those who represent us.
I believe given the tools, this pilot group will fight for what we rightfully deserve. But, we must be informed and educated, two areas in which I feel the current administration falls short.
In the two flights we have flown together you have earned my respect, but more importantly, my trust. I personally do not believe=2 0we well get a respectable contract without a fight and you have the wherewithal to successfully lead our troops into battle.
If elected, I know you will work tirelessly on my behalf. Therefore, if there is anything I can do to assist you in your goal of making our airline a better place to work, please feel free to call on me. I thank you again.
Respectfully,
David Weiselberg

I wholeheartedly support he candidacy of Capt. Jayson Baron for LEC 170 CA Representative. I flew with Jayson several times as a First Officer and also know him as a good friend. There is no doubt in my mind that Jayson would be one of the strongest advocates for our pilot group. He has a lot of time invested in this company and is always working to secure OUR futures at Continental, and will, without hesitation, fight to get every last improvement he can for our pilot group. Jayson is a tireless, fearless, advocate of our pilots , and can be depended upon to do what is best for us.
Fratermally,
Karl Novak,

Writing this is actually very easy for me... When you meet Jayson for the first time something always comes to mind; His honesty, there is not a question about this mans integrity. When Jayson gets involved, you can be certain that he will follow through and get the job done. He is a leader and will never let this pilot group down. This is a man that will tell you the truth, good and bad, and never give you a "sale" job.
I believe he is the man to lead this pilot group, LEC 170, into the future.

EWR B-
I have known and worked with Captain Jayson Baron for a long time and he has ingrained
in me that "IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PILOTS AND THEIR FAMILIES".
At this critical point
in our CAL ALPA history, with 148 of our sisters and brothers on furlough status,
and with the ammendable date of our Contract 02 less than four (4) months away, a
leader concerned about CAL ALPA pilots and their families is exactly what we need.
I
can think of no better person to represent me than Captain Jayson Baron.

Captain -
I have known Jayson Baron for fifteen years. Jayson is a bright, capable and intelligent individual. He is a true unionist. Jayson and I have worked together many times in union service and I know him to be a man of honesty and integrity. He has a passion for his work unequaled by any union volunteer I have ever worked with.
I believe Jayson will help bring our pilot group together and will fight hard for a good contract, one that will improve the lives and careers of every pilot on our seniority list.
Captain Ed Neffinger
The pilots of Continental Airlines having been working under a concessionary contract since late 1983, and the contract we signed in 2002 was just more salt in the wound. We need Jayson Baron because he is a Continental pilot that understands our history.
I worked closely with Jayson Baron on the Wall Street Rally, and was amazed at his skill and tireless dedication in organizing our pilots for that successful demonstration of our unity. Jayson was instrumental in pulling off a demonstration right in front of the people that count the most to Continental’s managers, the Wall Street money people! Jayson Baron is the type of union leader we need to make the management of Continental Airlines take our pilots seriously.
Jayson has experienced Continental Airlines management long enough to know the issues that face this pilot group. Jayson Baron should be working as a Continental pilot for many more years to come, so this is one pilot who has real “skin in the game.” You can trust that Jayson will bring the same unmatched integrity and tireless dedication to the interests of the most junior pilots on our list, as well as the most senior pilots.
I would urge strongly that all the pilots of EWR LEC 170 vote for Jayson Baron as their Captain Representative.

Dear Fellow Newark Pilots,
My name is Doug Kroushinsky, I am a Newark based 737 Captain, and I am writing to you to express my support for Captain Jayson Barron's run for the Newark LEC 170 Captain Rep position. I have known Jayson for approximately three years, and during that time have become very familiar with how Jayson feels about the "profession" and how he feels about the attack on our "livelihoods" Jayson is very educated on not only the current day operation and poltical structure of ALPA, but he is also very knowledgable in the history of the organization, and many if not all of the major work events that took place at all of the airlines underneath the ALPA umbrella since its inception. This knowledge comes from his genuine interest and desire to prevent the mistakes of other pilot groups, and in some cases our own, from happening again, and likewise to employ the successful negotiating tactics of the past that have lead to industry leading contracts, here at Continental. During this critical time in our careers. Captain Jayson Barron is very aware that the quality of life of most, if not all Continetal pilots has not been improving, and that the current contract negotiations are very critical to our keeping pace with an ever increasing cost of living. He genuinely wants to prevent another substandard and concessionary contract. Jayson strongly beleives in standing up for the rights of all Continental pilots thru contract enforcement and a fair and sound greviance processs. Having shared the cockpit with him many times, I can also say that out on the line, as many of you who have flown with him know, he's a pleasure to fly with, and always backs all members of his crew. I strongly back Captain Jayson Barron for the position of Newark Captain Representitive, and always wish him clear skies and safe travels.
Sincerely,
Doug Krouhinsky
